Collaborating with content creators | Working with a storytelling company

The demand for creating contents upraises most especially with the YouTube ads. Numerous groups and individuals switch from making YouTube videos and vlogs to climb and tap the opportunities in the mainstream league. Few years ago, we have already seen that creating contents for YouTube and other social media platforms will be the next big thing. The pandemic accelerates them all. More young creatives take advantage of the available technology. On another note, the live event industry is gripped with health protocols. Corporate clients settle with either virtual or hybrid events. Suppliers must learn how to be flexible too. I say, adapt the new and keep the core.

Recently, I have been talking to content creators and small shops. Collaborating with them, I could see the excitement in staging their projects into another level because it is a different world for them. Some of them started handling big brands already. The process of hiring freelancers and suppliers to work in their projects is the same as in the traditional production environment. The difference is, you will most likely work with Gen Z or centennials. Another difference is (which is a good thing), they are very much open to reinforce their ideas with an event tech and staging supplier like us who can understand the agency perspective whether it is for YouTube or local tv or any social media platforms.

One of the groups I recently worked with is a group of travel vloggers. The pandemic gave them the opportunity to repurpose their team into creating local-based contents. Eventually, they came up with a different business model and are successful in convincing and working with big brands. In today’s creator economy, the advantage of this type of company is social media, and social media requires content. In their case, it is how they introduce themselves, as a “storytelling company”.

How we work with content creators and a storytelling company?

  1. We either initiate or re-create technical design to support their concept and objective. We apply the physical capability that we do in live events to provide the experience to their imagination and visualization.
  2. We reinforce the moving heads lights and effects with their studio and video lighting to achieve an above level texture. Trusses with motor hoists are mostly recommended in studios with high ceilings and are capable of supporting the lights and trusses.
  3. We add physical structures like stage, backdrop, props and sets to transform the venue into what is being asked in the story.
  4. Finally, they know that the audio system is also important. It does not only give a louder voice to the director. It amplifies everyone’s ability to understand and get excited from reading the script, reviewing the shot list, changing the sets, and directing the whole. It is not easy to stay up from six o’clock in the morning to eight in the evening. Lately, the sound system is already a part of the requirements. With the music being played, it keeps the environment alive and the adrenaline is tuned as if everyone is in a party or live event.
